My love for decorated sugar cookies began about four years ago, when I decided to do a cookie decorating party for my kids during the Christmas season.

Every year I made more and more cookies and kept adding to my “annual cookie party”. This past Christmas, I decided that maybe doing this cookie thing year around would be fun. Thus, Once Upon a Cookie began. I looked into the cottage food laws in Alabama and thought “ I can do this!”. So I made some samples of my work and handed out to friends, neighbors, local businesses and started the process of getting my name out there. I’ll admit, this is not my strong point. I am much more comfortable baking in the kitchen and designing/decorating than I am out in public trying to show people what I can do. However, my husband pushed me through it and I was pleasantly surprised at the positive feedback.
